Fairfax House, originally the winter home of the Fairfax family, is one of the finest Georgian townhouses in England. A classical architectural masterpiece, its richly decorated interiors were designed by York’s most distinguised architect, John Carr. A tour of the house transports visitors to the grandeur of 18th-century city living in York and the stunning collection of furniture, clocks, paintings and decorative arts brings this townhouse to life. There is an exciting programme of special events and temporary exhibitions.
