This 19th-century former barracks displays fine and decorative art, the Story of Portsmouth, Football in the City, a collection of Arthur Conan Doyle material and, new for 2011, No Place Like Portsmouth, exploring the unique features of the city. Temporary exhibitions for 2011–12 include Birds, Beasts and Bugs (until 6 January), then A Tale of One City to commemorate the bicentenary of Charles Dickens's birth in Portsmouth (7 February - December 2012).
