This is an accurate scale model of the historic Morecambe Open-Air Bathing Pool, later called 'The Super Swimming Stadium' which opened in 1936 and was demolished in the 1970s. The pool was uncompromisingly modern, exploiting the new possibilities offered by reinforced concrete. It is a reflection of the national importance of the building that Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, London, one of the leading goldsmiths of its period was commissioned to make this presentation piece.
