Description:
The Camden Town artist Ratcliffe spent much of his life working in Letchworth Garden City. He tended to paint interior scenes without figures, recording the many places he lived, and this cottage interior is typical, including the view of whitewashed houses and red tiled roofs that can be seen through the windows. It features plain Arts and Crafts wood furniture and a table still life, with a painting, 'Summer Landscape' of 1913, propped up against the back wall.
