early 20th Century

This vase has a striking design of lilies carved in orange glass overlay on a white glass ground. The lily design shows a naturalistic Western influence, being a popular motif of international Art Nouveau. As is usual with Chinese glass of this type, the piece is not signed but was made by an unknown artist in the mid-Qing dynasty period of the early 20th century.
