Description:
This longcase clock was presented to the Foundling Hospital in 1750 by John Ellicott, one of the most important watch and clockmakers of the 18th century. Ellicott supervised the making and installation of the clocks in the Foundling Hospital, which was built between 1742 and 1752; he became a Governor of the Hospital in 1759.
