Description:
Bell made this water fountain for the Metropolitan Free Drinking Fountain Association and presented it the director of Kew to be installed at Kew Gardens. Both the founder of the association and the director were, like Bell, important Norfolk figures. The fountain was removed from Kew in 1865 partly because the figure was too popular with the working classes, who crowded around the entrance in order to see it.
