Description:
This work is a small-scale replica of a plaster cast of a flayed criminal which Dr. William Hunter made in the 1750s to aid his lectures to the Incorporated Society of Painters, and subsequently the Royal Academy. This statuette was made from a figure in wax which Hunter had previously acquired.
