Description:
This series of 20 drawings deals with archetypal themes in Emin's art: sex, her family, her abortions, and Margate. Monotype drawing lies at the heart of Emin's practice since the artist cannot predict the final image and it relies on chance. Many of her early monotypes were made in the dark or when drunk, in order to free her unconscious. This is the only surviving series of early monotype drawings.
