Collection of Linthorpe Art Pottery (© Dorman Museum). Christopher Dresser (1834 - 1904)

Christopher Dresser (1834 - 1904)

Dorman Museum

1881-1889

Linthorpe Pottery was established in 1879 just 1/2 mile from the museum and traded for only 10 years. This collection of 12 items has been carefully selected from a larger collection to represent a number of interpretative themes. Most of Dresser's designs were intended for mass production but some of his most innovative designs were made in very small numbers like the 'onion' shape vase and the dome shaped vase.
