Description:
These four colour lithographs with hand-punched holes seem to be the first prints by Fontana in the pierced manner of the 'concetto spaziale' series. Fontana announced his theory of 'Spazialismo' in a series of manifestos in the late 1940s where he urged artists to work in three or even four dimensions, by introducing space and time into their works. His own activity of this time prefigured later environmental and performance art.
