A full length portrait of the artist's second daughter, Anne Emily Sophia (always known as Daisy), painted shortly before her marriage to Colonel William Markham. He depicts her walking through a snowy landscape and stopping momentarily before the viewer. The picture can be considered a demonstration of paternal affection and as a deliberate show piece. This work was acquired with assistance from the Wolfson Foundation.
