Description:
A twelve sided covered cup with opposing scroll handles and a plain cylindrical foot. The bowl bears the arms of Thomas Belasyse, a chevron between three fleur-de-lis impaling those of his first wife Mildred, daughter of Viscount Castleton. A porringer of the size and quality of the Fauconberg cup could be used for caudle, a hot spicy drink of ale or wine whisked into an emulsion with egg yolks.
