The salver has four scroll and shell feet so it may also have been a stand for a kettle or tea urn. The shaped rim has a border of delicately chased shells, scrolls, swags and fruit filled baskets. The armorial in the centre is that of John, 5th Viscount Arbuthnott of Arbuthnott House, Fordown, Kincardineshire.
