Description:
A richly illuminated manuscript originally from Abbotsbury Abbey in Dorset and unrecorded until 2003. The calendar in the breviary contains commemorations of a number of specifically West Country saints. The great majority of the most elaborate decorated initials depict a Catherine Wheel, the emblem of St. Catherine of Alexandria. A richly decorated chapel dedicated to St. Catherine was built at Abbotsbury.
