Description:
Half-length portrait of Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830-1896) in a relaxed though slightly pensive mood, his head resting on his left hand. The artist and his subject were lifelong friends, and the finished work was almost certainly presented to Leighton on its completion, and is subsequently recorded as hanging at his house.
