Description:
The work centres on Puccini's last opera which tells the tale of the vengeful Princess Turandot. She decreed that anyone seeking her hand in marriage must answer three riddles or die. The attempt by Prince Calaf to win her hand forms the core of the drama. This work is more illustrative than many of Sinnott's paintings from the same time. This work is part of a collection of late 20th-century British paintings donated through the Art Fund to four galleries. All eight paintings take as their subject the human figure.
