Description:
A collection of 6 pieces of Jewish antiquities and ritual art purchased by The Art Fund to help start the collection of the recently founded Jewish Museum: 1) pewter passover plate, 1773; 2) a Berlin spice-box, circa 1700; 3) a Hirschell candlestick, 1802; 4) a pair of Augsburg Rimmonim, 1757 -1759 (main illustration), the name given to the belled ornaments placed on top of the Torah scrolls; 5) a Jannina Megillah, 17th century; 6) seven Palestinian coins including two 'heavy' shekels, one half-shekel and 4 bronze coins.
