Description:
This work belongs to a series called 'Group Portrait' which depicts life-size marble portraits of people with missing or malformed limbs caused by illnesses, accident or birth. The figures are posed as classical figures, and the poses are chosen by the artist and the sitter. Quinn conceived the works while looking at sculptures in the British Museum and wondering whether visitors would respond differently if they were faced by a real person with missing limbs.
