Fitzwilliam Museum

Thérèse Degas (1840-1897) was the sister of the artist and was painted by Degas many times. She is shown in profile to the left. The verso depicts a study of a monk with bare feet reading. This drawing is from a collection of works which also includes other studies of nudes, dancers, horses, after Donatello's 'David', and portrait studies of Jules Perrot Debal.

Provenance

Professor Andrew Gow left his collection to the National Art Collections Fund for presentation to the Fitzwilliam.
