Description:
The artist visited Mexico in 1983 where he was inspired by the ruins and the way light struck and shadowed the stacked stones. He created a group of works after this visit, which he later called the 'Wall of Light' series. This large scale work is one of the earlier ones in the series. Greater luminosity is suggested through the use of colour and texture.
