Thomas Gainsborough (1727 - 1788)

Gainsborough's House

1783

Depicts wooded hills with a figure standing by a pond in the foreground. It is closely related to the finished painting, now in Munich, Germany. Its high finish suggests it was used to finalise the commission of the painting from the Prince of Wales.
