Anna Dickinson (born 1961)

Turner Museum of Glass

1999

This vase shows how the artist evolved and developed the technique of electroplating. The 'beehive'-shaped grey cut vase reflects her desire to make a vessel that had solidity in form and energy; the glass not being blown too heavily as the shape should have weight. It is a substantial piece, weighing almost five kilograms. Deep wheel cuts made the concentric circles and vertical ribs that decorate the piece, and the rim is electroplated in brass.
