Peasants Merry Making on the Coast Near Naples (© Burton Constable Hall). Pietro Fabris (active 1756 - 1784)

Pietro Fabris (active 1756 - 1784)

Burton Constable Hall

1771

A pair of paintings with street-life scenes, populated with colourfully costumed peasants. The artist's works were particularly favoured by foreign visitors to the city and typify the Grand Tour souvenir picture. William Constable spent three months in Naples and it seems likely that the British Envoy Extraordinary introduced Constble to Fabris.
