Against a light-brown background Miss Emily Priestley is shown with her head turned three-quarters to the left, her dark eyes looking down to the right. She is pale faced, with dark hair and eyebrows, and wears a shot-silk dress of purple and yellow-brown, with red flowers at the breast. Her arms are bent, with the backs of her hands resting on her waist.
