The cutlery service commissioned for the Newberys is a wonderful example of Mackintosh's radical departure from conventional flatware design of the day, its elongated form and simple pierced motif showing how he had reduced art nouveau decoration to a basic simplicity. These are the first examples of Mackintosh's cutlery to be acquired by the National Museums of Scotland.
Direct descent from Mr and Mrs Newberry to vendor who was their great grand-son.
