Description:
This work was painted while Nicholson was living at Rottingdean, Sussex, where he found a haven away from painting society portraits in London and where he could develop his interest in landscapes. Through the deftness of his brushstrokes and the clarity of his vision, he conveys the very essence of subjects which is amply demonstrated in this work.
