Description:
Sisley visited South Wales in 1897 and painted 20 views of Penarth near Cardiff. He was fascinated by the cliffs at Penarth and the spectacular tidal fall of the Bristol Channel. This view was painted from the cliff top walk from Penarth to Lavernock with the setting sun casting shadows from the cliff on to the beach below.
