Via de Bardi

Davis was the son of a Leominster shoemaker, and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. He travelled widely on the continent and made a specialisation of painting landscapes, and architectural and topographical scenes. This study of the Via de Bardi is typical of his elegant and economical draughtsmanship, while his watercolours have been compared to those of Bonington.
