Description:
This work is unusual as it is in oil rather than Jones's preferred medium of watercolour. Jones often combined drawing and brushwork, as in the graphic treatment of the sailing ship in the foreground. Here overlapping brushstrokes of differing blues suggest the rhythm and movement of the sea.
