Description:
Ernst, like other members of the Surrealist movement, was interested in the serendipity of 'objets trouvés'. While spending the summer at Maloja, near Saint-Moritz, with his friend Giacometti, they discovered several granite stones in the water, already smooth and rounded. Ernst transformed the pebble with the decorative use of paint.
