Description:
John Bourchier, 2nd Baron Berners was Chancellor of the Exchequer to Henry VIII and also a scholar. Costume and technique suggest that the portrait may have been painted in the Pas de Calais in the 1520s when Lord Berners was Deputy of Calais.
