Oblong box with a narrow foliate border, raised oval boss engraved with arms, motto and supporters of City of Edinburgh. Contains charter on vellum dated 8 June 1736 with City Seal, granting freedom of City of Edinburgh to the Hon. Sir John Barnard, MP.
