Comment

  • There is a more famous sister painting by Ward showing Mrs Bryan (nee Hon. Juliana Talbot) with three of her children (Juliana and Henry are in almost identical poses in both pictures). Unfortunately this, together with other references, is promulgating the myth that she only had 3 children. In fact besides Henry, Eliza and Maria there were John, Charles and Marianne although not all of the last three may have survived. Marianne later married Thomas Peacock and had many children including Theresa who married Sir James Laing, the famous ship-builder. see also http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=0aUD4NqGYqAC&pg=PA283&lpg=PA283&dq=the+plantagenet+roll+of+the+blood+royal+juliana+talbot&source=bl&ots=6LkZu4B8iu&sig=FTMCoF-5h6Ykyhbd2tc8qL2Qj3w&hl=en&ei=X6vnTrapDo7V8QPe5JyDCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false Conversation Sharp
