Description:
Life-size naturalistic sculpture of a seated man in priest's robes holding a jewel in both hands in his lap above the crossed legs. Probably a portrait of a priest commemorated in his monastery as the Bodhisattva. Made in sections and morticed together then covered with gesso and painted lacquer. From the Kamakura period (1185-1392).
