Description:
Rectangular enamel miniature of the head and shoulders of Francis Charles Seymour Conway, 3rd Marquis of Hertford (1777-1842), after the three-quarter length painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence PRA. The sitter wears a dark coat with the star of the Garter, in a velvet and ormolu frame. The 3rd Marquis was a keen collector and was the founder of the Wallace collection, bequeathed to the nation by his widow in 1894.
