Description:
Clough's earlier figurative work drew directly on industrial and urban subject matter and, however removed from its starting point, her abstract work still refers to the real and visible world. In this work, the artist employs a purely abstract pictorial language of shapes and textures to construct a painting which evokes the atmosphere and experience of urban subject matter.
