Description:
Snowdonia, intensley dramatic and quintessentially Romantic, was magnetic to Piper. In Wales, as in Yorkshire and elsewhere, he was following in the footsteps of the old Romantic artists, in particular Richard Wilson. In Snowdonia, Piper was studying and painting pure landscape devoid of any buildings.
