This coherent collection of 17 works by twentieth-century British artists consists mostly of works on paper and reflects Professor Holmes' taste for figurative work in the Neo-Romantic style prevalent during the war and in the post-war decade, as found for example in John Minton's Liverpool I942, and Keith Vaughan's 'Red Foreshore with Figures',
