Description:
This is a study for an altarpiece at Francesco Borromini's great University Church S. Ivone alla Sapienza constructed during the 1640s and 1650s. The drawing appears to be from an early stage in the development of the composition. In the upper part, the positions of most of the saints were altered and a border of tapestry was added to link the upper and lower portions.
