Hexagonal casket with six enamel panels illustrating 'The Man of Law's Tale' from Chaucer's 'The Canterbury tales', each individually inscibed with a motto relevant to the scene on the panel. Presented to Sir David and Lady Stewart, a former Provost of the City of Aberdeen and his wife on their Golden Wedding in 1910. Lid inscribed; 'JOY OF THIS WORLD FOR TIME WILL NOT ABIDE FROM DAY TO NIGHT IT CHANGETH AS THE TIDE'.
