Castle Drogo

1) Castle Drogo, circa 1924; 2) Castle Drogo from the South, circa 1923. Castle Drogo was commissioned from Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1910 by Julius Drewe, who had made a fortune as a young man by establishing the grocery stores, Home and Colonial. Both client and architect had a romantic vision of a great medieval fortress.
