There is one comment on this artwork

I came across your website while researching inormation on Francis Mond. A copy of this sculpture was given to my partners' grandather, Albert Hill A.I.F. as it was he who attempted to save Francis Mond and Edgard Martyn when their plane was shot down near Le Hamel. When Lt Hill died, the family gave their copy of the work to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. We are trying to make contact with relatives of both men as we are visiting the site of the tragedy in France later this year to pay our respects. To see this work on your home page is of great significance to our family, especially Bert Hill's surviving daughters. His eldest daughter (Mrs) Lesley Munro has correspondence which passed between the families up until the early 1980's. We believe these men would all approve of friendships maintained after such horror and tragedy. Our comments then on this artwork are intensely personal. We hope that our story is of interest from that perspective. Adele Mazoudier
