Christopher Dresser (1834 - 1904)

Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron

1875

Dresser began his career as a botanist and this early analytical interest in plants and plant form was to influence profoundly his designing and teaching. The decorative elements, based on the form of waterplants, are integral to the form of the garden bench, which gives it a simplicity of outline unusual at the time.
