Lambeth delft dish, painted with scene of Darius and family before Alexander. Quatrefoil panels in the style of Chinese porcelain. Renaissance style designs of fruit and flowers. 2 holes for suspension.Exhibited:Burlington Fine Arts Club, 1913.

Comment

  • Jan Aryaensz van Hamme of De Dobbelde Schenken in Delft went bankrupt in 1661. Hee outran his crediors and settled in London and founded the Lambeth Pottery around 1670-1. He was among a number of pot makers that petitioned Charles 11 in 1676. The date of your item pre-dates the founding of his pottery which I always understood is the one that is generically known as Lambeth Delft.Victor Judge
