6 musicians and an artist, friends of the host, perform in a neo-classical room hung with collections of antiquities, arms and paintings. Lord Fortrose, the host, has his back to the viewer in the foreground, Sir William Hamilton is also present and two dogs attend. One of a pair of paintings in the apartment of Kenneth Mackenzie, Lord Fortrose in Naples.
