John Scarlett Davis (1804 - 1845)

A native of Leominster, Davis was sent to London at the age of fourteen to study at the Royal Academy Schools. This self-portrait apparently dates from the period 1825-29 when he was working in Yorkshire, mainly on portrait commissions.
