Discovered near Bruton, Somerset, 1984. Private collection, Stuttgart.

Description:
The Bruton Sword, a 9th century Anglo-Saxon sword with tapering double edged blade and an iron hilt with short tapering quillions. The blade is pattern welded and retains small patches of wood from the scabbard and of cloth from its cover. The pommel is missing.
