This is one of the artist's largest and most dramatic paintings and depicts Lamorna Cove and quarry seen through pinnacles of granite. In the centre is the old harbour wall with its derrick used for loading the quarried stone onto ships. This view of the cliffs and sea at Lamorna Cove is topographically accurate albeit from an unusual viewpoint. Although the artist was not a Cornishman by birth, he lived most of his life in Cornwall and much of his work depicts Cornish views.
