Giovanni Battista Langetti (1625 - 1676)

Osterley Park House

1650 - 1675

The artist tended to execute numerous variations on a limited range of subjects, such as the Good Samaritan or the Death of Cato. He recognised that these afforded him the best opportunity of deploying his painterly naturalism upon such things as strongly characterised heads, scenes of pain, and above all, the aged nude.
